Shane and Abbey Gottwals purchased the 83 acres now known as "Eventide" in December of 2021. The opportunity came and they simply couldn't resist the beauty of that place. Buying the land presented one problem, though... what were they going to do with wooded acreage thirty minutes from their home in Houston County?
Over the course of many prayer-filled months and some big lessons in hospitality and the idea of "place" picked up from a Hutchmoot conference and books, they decided to build a home at Eventide that would serve as an event space and residence for traveling artists, missionaries, and friends.
Besides being a haven for artists of all types–musicians, poets, authors, visual artists–they hope Eventide points people to a close walk with Jesus. The sign above the door reads some lines from Andrew Osenga’s song “Rejoice Again”:
“Lead us in your righteousness; give us the courage to obey.”
Ultimately, Eventide promotes what’s good and right and true.
